Moynalvey continued their push for promotion from Division 3 of the B League with a 3-11 to 0-7 victory against Duleek/Bellewstown on Tuesday July 5th.

Duleek/Bellewstown 0-7 Moynalvey 3-11

Moynalvey laid the platform for victory in opening half played in greasy underfoot conditions, with a rampant scoring display in the second quarter of the game.

Host side Duleek/Bellewstown were first off the mark, pointing within the first sixty seconds. Points from Alan Donnelly and Willie Byrne, with a Duleek/Bellewstown free sandwiched in between, left the side’s level at 0-2 apiece after fourteen minutes. Moynalvey’s purple patch saw them hit 2-3 without reply, to put them into a 3-6 to 0-2 half time lead. The scores coming from Ciaran Ennis (2-2), Alan Donnelly (1-1) and Ger Fagan (0-1).

After the interval Duleek/Bellewstown rallied hard and hit 0-4 in the opening 12 minutes. Good work from substitutes Padraig Donoghue and Robert Quinlan set up Johnny Carey for his first score of the evening, leaving the score line reading 3-7 to 0-7 in favour of the visitor’s midway through the half. Moynalvey tagged on a further 0-4 in the final quarter courtesy of 0-2 from Eoin Maher and 0-1 from Stephen Cummins, with Ennis tapping over a close range free in the final minutes after Paddy Kiernan was fouled, to leave the final score reading 3-11 to 0-7 in favour of the men in maroon and white. Best for Moynalvey were Anthony Brien, Brian Conneely, Ger Fagan, Willie Byrne and Alan Donnelly.
