Dunshaughlin 3-9 Moynalvey 3-15

.

In a high scoring game, Moynalvey started the brighter, racing into a 6 point lead, through scores from Ciaran Collins (2), Ger McHale (2) Ciaran Ennis & David Durkan, before Dunshaughlin eventually got off the mark in the 20th minute. Dunshaughlin dominated the last 10 minutes of the half, rattling off 2-3, with Moynalvey responding through a fine individual effort from Donal Smith & a P.J Walsh point to leave the score reading 0-8 to 2-4 in favour of the home side at half time.

.

Within a minute of the restart, Moynalvey’s other wing back Simon Courtney also got on the score board with a superb effort from long range. However Dunshaughlin furthered their lead, adding 1-2, leaving them 6 points to the good after 38 minutes. Moynalvey midfielder Paul Corcoran kick started their revival, when landing a fine point from distance 60 seconds later. This was soon followed by P.J Walsh splitting the posts from close range, after some good work on the end line from substitute Luke Duffy. Duffy then raised Moynalveys first green flag, when finding the net with a superb effort from an acute angle. Another substitute James Weldon then added Moynalveys next point to leave the scoreboard reading 1-11 to 3-7 in favour of the home side with 15 minutes remaining. Dunshaughlin tagged on two more points, before Duffy once again found the net, from an almost identical position as his first effort, in the 48th minute. Moynalvey reeled off 1-3 in the last 10 minutes with the points coming from Smith, Weldon & P.J Walsh, with Walsh putting the game out of Dunshaughlins reach when netting in the 55th minute, following good build up play involving Durkan, Duffy & Weldon. Dunshaughlin could only manage a single point in reply, when Moynalvey goalkeeper Giles Drumm produced a fine save to tip over a shot from close range to leave the end score line reading 3-15 to 3-9 in favour of the men in maroon.
