Moynalvey’s second string opened their Junior C championship campaign with a convincing victory over Kilmainhamwood in a sun soaked Martry, on Sunday afternoon 31st May.

.

Moynalvey 3-15 Kilmainhamwood 1-5

.

Moynalvey were quickest off the mark racing into a 2-6 to no score lead after 10 minutes, with the two goals coming from Peter Durnin, the second a fortuitous effort which looped in over the goalkeeper, a brace of points from Phillip Garvey and one apiece from Willie Harnan, Shane Collins, Ger McHale & P.J Walsh. Kilmainhamwood finally registered on the score board with a goal in the 18th minute & proceeded to add the next two scores of the half. In the last 10 minutes of the half Moynalvey furthered their lead with points from Willie Harnan, and two more from the impressive Philly Garvey to leave Moynalvey 10 points ahead at half time with the score board reading 2-9 to 1-2 in favour of the men from South Meath.

.

Upon the restart Kilmainhamwood still couldn’t come up with answers to the halt the Moynalvey forward line, all of whom registered on the score board. Moynalvey furthered their advantage with points from the industrious Peter Durnin, a P.J Walsh effort following good build up play involving Peter Durnin & Anthony Brien and also a Shane Collins free after Ger McHale had been fouled. With the game now out of Kilmainhamwood’s reach, Moynalvey’s Donal Smith, Philly Garvey & midfielder Paul Corcoran registered points on the score board, before substitute Daniel Treacy bagged a third goal for the men in maroon in response to Kilmmainhamwood’s three points of the second half.

.

This left the final score line reading 3-15 to 1-5. Best on the day for Moynalvey were Peter Durnin, Phillip Garvey & William Mahady.
