Adam Rooney removebg previewMoynalvey had eight points to spare over visitors Syddan in this Meath Cleaning Supplies Division 4 Premier Football Championship round 5 tie played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Sunday morning May 21st.

Moynalvey 4-10
Syddan 1-11

It was Syddan who opened the scoring after sixty seconds. Moynalvey’s first score came in the 7th minute with John Donoghue converting from the penalty spot.

Two Adam Rooney points, the second a brilliant effort from the right wing left it 1-2 to 0-1 with 10 minutes played.

Top scorer Cathal Dardis pointed for the visitors in the 13th minute and three minutes later Syddan’s Ben Blakemore netted to draw the sides level for the first time, 1-2 apiece.

By the time Syddan would add their third point in the 25th minute Moynalvey had added 1-3 to their tally, the goal bundled across the line by Aidan Gilsenan and the points coming from Michael Brady, Shaun Deering and Paul Conneely.

Cathal Dardis and Adam Rooney traded points late in the half to leave it doubles scores at half time in favour of the home side, 2-6 to 1-3.

The first five minutes of the second half saw Moynalvey points from Kyle O’Malley and Shaun Deering either side of a brilliantly struck ’45 from Syddan’s Cormac Dardis leaving it double scores again 2-8 to 1-4.

Cathal Dardis led the way in a Syddan purple patch which saw them reel off four points without reply narrowing the deficit to just a single score 2-8 to 1-8 midway through the second half.

What you could call an inspired double substitution yielded immediate dividends, as within seconds of entering the field of play Ciaran Harnan combined with fellow sub Darren Brennan for Brennan to finish to the back of Ciaran Farrelly’s net for Moynalvey’s third goal.

That man Cathal Dardis reeled off three points in a row to reduce the margin to four points with four minutes remaining, 3-9 to 1-11.

1-1 from Ciaran Harnan in injury time added that extra bit of gloss to the score line to see Moynalvey run out eight point winners on a 4-10 to 1-11 score line.

Best for Moynalvey were Cillian Kelly, Conor Quinn, Charlie McCormack, Adam Rooney and Paul Conneely.
