Moynalvey’s greater goal scoring power saw them collect their second win of the 2013 Div. B League campaign when overcoming Duleek/Bellewstown on a 6-13 to 2-10 score line at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Monday evening August 12th.

Moynalvey 6-13 Duleek/Bellewstown 2-10

Moynalvey got off to the perfect start, with full forward Ciaran Collins firing them into a four point lead with a goal and a point inside the opening two minutes. Duleek/Bellewstown opened their account in the 3rd minute with a converted free only for the home side to add a further 1-1, this time courtesy of Ray Ryan and a second Collins goal, leaving seven points between the sides with as many minutes played. The two goals remained between the sides until the 20th minute, when Ray Ryan scored the home sides’ third goal, leaving the score line reading 3-5 to 0-5. Two minutes later Ken Hyland opened his account when blasting home another goal and sixty seconds later fired over the black spot extending Moynalvey’s advantage to 13 points. Both sides registered a brace of points apiece before the half time whistle, with both Moynalvey’s scores coming from Ray Ryan. Duleek/Bellewstown found the back of the net themselves just before the interval to leave Moynalvey leading on a double score line of 4-8 to 1-7 at the break.

Within six minutes of the restart the home side found themselves 12 points to the good with points from Ray Ryan and Cathal McCabe. A minute later Duleek/Bellewstown raised their second green flag of the game when Moynalvey goalkeeper Giles Drum was somewhat unlucky when a point blank shot was half saved, only to find its way to the back of the net. Moynalvey closed out the second half with a further 2-3, with the goals coming from Ryan and a somewhat fortuitous effort that deflected to the net from midfielder Ger Fagan. The visitors added 0-2 to their second half tally, leaving Moynalvey comfortable winners on a 6-13 to 2-10 score line.
