Moynalvey clocked up their second victory of Division 3 of the A league when accounting for the current Meath & Leinster Junior Football Championship holders Ballivor on a 0-10 to 0-6 score line at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Sunday 1st April.

Moynalvey 0-10 Ballivor 0-6

Moynalvey opened the game the stronger of the two sides opening up a three point lead after six minutes courtesy of three Mark O’Sullivan points, two from free kicks and one massive point from play from distance. Moynalvey’s earlier dominance proved short lasted as the visitors equalised the game with three points of their own between the 12th and 16th minutes. A further two Ballivor points with Moynalvey responding through a Ken Hyland score ensured the away side held the half time advantage on a 0-5 to 0-4 score line.

Within three minutes of the restart the home side regained parity through another O’Sullivan free. Three minutes later Ballivor took the lead again, however this proved to be their last score of the game as Moynalvey had the better of the second half exchanges. The introduction of substitute Cilian O’Sullivan proved crucial as he levelled the sides once again 0-6 apiece almost immediately after his arrival onto the field. A David Donoghue pointed effort in the 48th minute put the home side ahead again once again, 0-7 to 0-6. Three further points from full forward Ken Hyland and one apiece from the O’Sullivan brothers resulted in Moynalvey running out four point winners in a hard fought contsest.

Team: O. Regan, R. Kiernan, P. Weldon, P. Donoghue, C. McCabe, B. O’Keefe, A.Forde, P. Conneely, J. Donoghue, D. Brennan, D. Donoghue (0-1), L. Duffy, M.O’Sullivan (0-5), K. Hyland (0-2), R. Quinlan. Subs: C. O’Sullivan (0-2) for Duffy, C. Collins for Quinlan.
