Moynalvey overcame Drumconrath in a Division 3 A league game played in blustery conditions in Dunganny on Sunday afternoon, May 17th.

Moynalvey 1-10 Drumconrath 0-5

Moynalvey recorded their second win of the 2009 league campaign in a game rescheduled for Dunganny due to heavy rainfall in previous days making Kilmore Park, Moynalvey unplayable. On a day when scores were hard to come by, the first score of the game was registered by the men in maroon in the 4th minute through the boot of full forward Ciaran Collins. Drumconrath proceeded to register the next two points, before Moynalvey responded through a Willie Byrne free after Brian Gilsenan was fouled. Willie Harnan pushed Monalvey ahead in the 19th minute, with Drumconrath responding three minutes later. A minute later a fine cross field ball from Collins found Willie Byrne, who in turn found Harnan, who calmly slotted the ball over the bar with his left boot from close range to leave the half time score reading 0-4 to 0-3 in favour of Moynalvey, with Drumconrath being reduced to 14 men in the 25th minute.

Drumconrath were quickest out of the blocks in the second half, drawing the score level at four points a piece in the second minute of the half. However, they failed to register on the score board over the next 19 minutes, with Moynalvey tagging on points through another Byrne free, this time after Harnan was fouled, Peter Durnin (2) & James Weldon before Drumconrath finally got their fifth and last score of the game in the 51st minute. Moynalvey finished off the game with points from John Donoghue and a free from veteran Cathal Sheridan. The goal came in the final minute after Drumconrath lost their second player through indiscipline, when a shot by substitute Ger Fagan was deflected to the net by Brian Gilsenan to leave the final score line reading 1-10 to 0-5 in favour of Moynalvey.
