A top drawer display from Diarmuid Moriarty saw Curraha get the better of Moynalvey in this A League Div. 1B round 9 clash played in Curraha on Tuesday evening May 23rd.

Curraha 1-15
Moynalvey 0-10

Curraha were boosted by the availability of top marksman Diarmuid Moriarty who turned in an inspirational display with a man of the match performance, accounting for all bar a handful of Curraha’s 1-15 tally.

Moynalvey started the brightest, with Michael Brady sending over two early points for the visitors to lead 0-2 to 0-1 with eight minutes played.

The home side took the lead, which they weren’t to relinquish, with four Moriarty points in a row to put them six points to one up with 20 minutes played.

Moynalvey points from Vinny Walsh (2) and Paul Corcoran in response to another two Moriarty points left it 0-7 to 0-5 with four minutes of the half remaining.

Another brace of Diarmuid Moriarty points left the home side four points to the good at half time, 0-9 to 0-5.

Moynalvey’s cause was severely hampered with the loss through injury of Ciaran Harnan and Michael Brady just before half time, with the visitor’s woes further hindered losing Paul Corcoran also to injury at half time.

Darren Brennan narrowed the deficit to three within as many minutes of the resumption, but that man Moriarty reeled off another hat trick of points, two frees and a mark, to make it double scores 0-12 to 0-6, ten minutes into the second half.

Three Moynalvey points from Craig Gilsenan and Vinny Walsh (2) left three between the sides again with ten minutes remaining, 0-12 to 0-9.

A brace of Curraha points followed by a Darren Brennan point for Moynalvey left four between the sides with five minutes remaining.

Diarmuid Moriarty quashed any hope of a Moynalvey comeback and put the icing on the cake for the ‘Ha and his own personal performance when he netted the game’s only goal in the 59th minute to see the the home side run out 1-15 to 0-10 winners.

Next up for Moynalvey is a round five back game against Oldcastle next Tuesday evening at home.
