Moynalvey 3 - 11 St Pats, Donabate 0 - 7
The Dublin champions started brightest posting the opening 2 scores of the game. However, Moynalvey soon settled and well worked scores from Robbie Quinlan and Willie Byrne had the game level at 0 - 2 each after 10 minutes. A Cathal Sheridan point put Moynalvey ahead and although Donabate equalised soon after, the men in maroon then proceeded to dominate the next 15 minutes scoring 1 - 5 without reply to effectively kill off the game before half time.
Mark O'Sullivan scored the first of these points before Sheridan pointed 3 frees on the trot. A further Sheridan point from play was followed by an excellent O'Sullivan goal to push Moynalvey 1 - 8 to 0 - 3 clear with 29 minutes gone. Donabate were rattled and begun to get indisciplined losing a man to a second yellow card on the stroke of half time. Donabate kicked the last score of the half to to leave it 1 - 8 to 0 - 4 in Moynalvey's favour at the interval.
Any hope of a Donabate revival were quickly extinguished on the restart. A Brian Gilsenan point was followed by a well worked Cathal Sheridan goal within 3 minutes of the restart. Another excellent Moynalvey move resulted in Robbie Quinlan netting to push the Meath team clear by 3 - 9 to 0 - 4 with 20 minutes remaining.
Moynalvey brought on a number of subs over the remainder of the game and an O'Sullivan point from play and a Sheridan free in response to 3 Donabate efforts left the final winning margin at 13 points. The Dublin side lost their discipline again towards the end of the game finishing with 12 men when losing 2 further players to red cards in the last 5 minutes of the game.
This was an excellent team performance by Moynalvey who now progress to a semi final meeting with Mooncoin of Kilkenny in 2 weeks time.
