Moynalvey/Boardsmill 3-9
St. Micheals 1-4

Early on the North Meath combination side took complete control outscoring Moynalvey 0-4 to 0-1 in the opening quarter, Moynalvey/Boardsmill's sole score coming from Barry Walsh in the 6th minute.

The next score didn’t arrive until the 26th minute when Moynalvey/Boardsmill’s Luke O’Halloran split the uprights leaving it double scores, 0-4 to 0-2. The games’ first goal arrived a minute later when lively full forward Peadar Bird found the net to put Moynalvey/Boardsmill ahead for the first time leaving the half time score read 1-2 to 0-4.

Five minutes after the restart Aaron Sweeney saw a penalty saved by the St. Michaels/Nobber goalie, one of many brilliant saves he pulled off throughout the game.

1-4 without reply for Moynalvey/Boardsmill with points from Barry Walsh, Rhys Dixon, Peadar Bird and 1-1 from substitute Jake Morgan left the South Meath combination side in control 2-6 to 0-4 with 54 minutes played.

The pick of the game’s four goals came from St. Micheals/Nobber when their centre back carried the ball forward to unleash an unstoppable shot from distance to the top corner of Moynalvey/Boardsmill goalkeeper Andrew Gallagher’s net for St. Micheals/Nobber only score since the 15th minute of the game, leaving it 2-6 to 1-4.

There was still time for Moynalvey/Boardsmill to tag on another 1-3, the first point coming from Evan Drum after a brilliant block and turnover by Luke O’Halloran, 1-1 from substitute Cian Williams and a point from another substitute Ronan Thompson to add that extra bit of gloss to the full time score line of 3-9 to 1-4.

While Moynalvey/Boardsmill were slow to get started, a stern talking to at the first water break ignited them in to action to hold their opponents to just 1-4 and hold them scoreless between the 15th and 55th minutes, while registering all of their own 3-9 from play.

All 18 Moynalvey/Boardsmill players used turned in a fine team performance, but particular praise must go to Matty Forde, David Regan, Noah Dunne, Cillian Purcell, Barry Walsh and the enterprising Peadar Bird.

TJ Reilly was a proud Boardsmill man presenting the shield to Donnacha Farry and Noah Dunne on behalf of Meath Co. Board after the game.
