Moynalvey suffered defeat at the hands of hosts Castletown, in this A league Division 3 game played on Tuesday 2nd June.

.

Castletown 1-15 Moynalvey 1-8

.

In a dress rehearsal of the next round of the Intermediate championship, Moynalvey were cut open in the early stages of the game, with the hosts forging into a 1-7 to 0-1 lead after 20 minutes, Moynalvey’s point coming from Mark O’Sullivan. Over the last 10 minutes of the half, Castletown tagged on three more points, while Moynalvey responded with well taken scores from Cathal Sheridan & Mark O’Sullivan, leaving the half time score at 1-10 to 0-3 in the hosts favour.

.

With the contest effectively over at this stage, Moynalvey rallied hard in a bid to regain some respectability on the score board. Ciaran Ennis, Sheridan & Brian Conneely added scores in response to two points from the home side. In the 45th minute Castletown furthered their lead, before Stephen Donoghue cut the difference to 7 points, when finishing to the net from almost the bye line. Over the dieing minutes, the sides traded two points apiece, with Moynalvey’s brace coming from Sheridan. This left the final score line reading 1-15 to 1-8 in favour of the home side.

.

This was a very disappointing display from Moynalvey, who will have to vastly improve if roles are to be reversed when these two meet in the Championship over the coming weeks.
