Moynalvey’s sixth round Div. 3 A league game against Drumbaragh ended in stale mate as the sides finished level after sixty odd minutes of football at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Wednesday May 23rd.

Moynalvey 2-8 Drumbaragh 0-14

Moynalvey got off to a dream start, taking a nine point lead after just a quarter an hour of play. Wing forward Anthony Forde more accustomed to the half back line split the posts in the 3rd minute for the opening score of the game, which was quickly followed by a Ray Ryan goal sixty seconds later. Good link play from Forde and Mark O’Sullivan saw the ball recycled back to Luke Duffy who sent over in the 6th minute. Mark O’Sullivan completed the early scoring spree when converting a free kick and then burying to the net from close range after good approach play from James Weldon and Ray Ryan.

Drumbaragh’s first score of the evening was a free arriving in the 11th minute of the game. With twenty minutes played only the two goals remained between the teams after the visitors added a brace of points. John Donoghue sent over for the home side before two more Drumbaragh points left Moynalvey ahead by double scores 2-4 to 0-5 with seven minutes of the opening period remaining. A Mark O’Sullivan point in the 28th minute left the two goals the difference between the sides at the break, 2-5 to 0-5.

Drumbaragh started the second half as Moynalvey did the first, hitting six unanswered points during the third quarter of the game drawing matters level 2-5 to 0-11 after 44 minutes of play. Substitute Brian Conneely settled Moynalvey with a score before the Junior outfit pointed to tie matters up again. Drumbaragh took the lead for the first time in the 50th minute. Ray Ryan sent over the black spot for the home side but the North Meath side looked to have the momentum to take the two pints on offer when going ahead once again in the 55th minute. A nervous finale to the game saw both sides kick bad wides, before last year’s Young Footballer of the Year Anthony Forde sent over a huge point for Moynalvey with the last play of the game ensuring a point apiece for both sides.
