Moynalvey once again bowed out of the Feis Cup at the first hurdle when going down to St. Peters Dunboyne on a 3-9 to 1-6 score line at Kiltale on Friday evening June 29th.

Moynalvey 1-6 St. Peters Dunboyne 3-9

Moynalvey exited the Feis Cup at the first round stage for the 4th year in succession when going down to Dunboyne by nine points in Kiltale, after the game was moved here due to Moynalvey’s pitch being left unplayable after the heavy rain. St. Peters got off to the better start finding themselves four points to the good after six minutes of play following an early point from Stephen Moran and a goal from Gary Watters. Moynalvey’s opening score left the minmum between the sides when Darren Brennan netted in the 8th minute. Mark O’Sullivan opened his account in the 14th minute following a Watters point for Dunboyne, leaving the score board reading 1-3 to 1-1 in favour of the town side midway through the opening period. However O’Sullivan’s point proved to be Moynalvey’s last of the half and Dunboyne hit 1-4 without reply in the second quarter to leave them 2-7 to 1-1 ahead at the break.

A rejuvenated Moynalvey side narrowed the deficit to five points when they hit the first four points of the second half courtesy of James Kelly and three O’Sullivan frees. But just as Moynalvey found themselves clawing their way back into the game they suffered a hammer blow with the concession of a third goal when wing back Gary Timoney goaled for Dunboyne in the 37th minute. Two more Dunboyne points from Ger Robinson and Craig Berrigan along with a point from Moynalvey substitute Luke Duffy left the final score line reading 3-9 to 1-6 in favour of St. Peters.
