Moynalvey secured their second successive win in six days in Division 2 of the A League when overcoming St. Colmcilles on a 2-17 to 0-5 score line at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Friday evening May 17th.

Moynalvey 2-17 St. Colmcilles 0-5

The opening 15 minutes was a pretty even affair on the score board, although the visitors will feel they should have scored more as plenty of scoring opportunities were spurned by St. Colmcilles in the opening quarter. After 16 minutes of play the sides were level 0-3 apiece, but this proved to be as good as it got for the ‘Cilles in the opening period. Moynalvey rattled off seven unanswered points over the remainder of the half, giving them a 0-10 to 0-3 lead at the break.

The East Meath men added their 4th point of the evening within sixty seconds of the restart. By the time they registered their 5th and final score in the 53rd minute, Moynalvey’s advantage had been stretched to 1-17 to 0-4, with the goal coming from William Harnan. A second goal for Moynalvey from Ciaran Ennis in the dying minutes left Moynalvey comprehensive 18 point winners on a 2-17 to 0-5 score line.

Best for Moynalvey were Robbie Kiernan, Darren Brennan, Donal Smith, John Donoghue and Anthony Forde.

Moynalvey scorers: Ciaran Ennis (1-6), Anthony Forde (0-4), William Harnan (1-1), Ray Ryan (0-3), James Weldon (0-2), Ken Hyland (0-1).
