Moynalvey scored their second win of the 2013 Division 2 A League with a 12 point victory at home to Ballinlough on a 3-12 to 0-9 score line on Sunday afternoon May 12th.

Moynalvey 3-12 Ballinlough 0-9

Ballinlough opened the scoring as early as the 2nd minute, but this was to be the first and only time the visitors would lead throughout the game. Anthony Forde levelled matters two minutes later before two Ciaran Ennis frees and a John Donoghue effort from play left Moynalvey 0-4 to 0-1 to the good midway through the opening half. Ballinlough reduced the deficit to two points in the 16th minute before Ray Ryan raised the first of the games three green flags. Ballinlough registered their third and final score of the opening period in the 25th minute, with Moynalvey rounding off the half with an Ennis free, a James Weldon point and a second goal of the game from Ray Ryan, leaving Moynalvey in a comfortable half time lead of 2-6 to 0-3.

A brief rally from Ballinlough in the opening 10 minutes of the second half saw them score four unanswered points, narrowing the margin to just the two goals. Moynalvey stemmed this purple patch from the visitors with two Ennis frees and a third goal courtesy of the deftest of flicks from Anthony Forde as an Ennis free fell short, leaving Moynalvey leading their opponents 3-9 to 0-7 after 47 minutes. Moynalvey’s Brendan Dixon saw red in the 49th minute and Moynalvey played out the final 10 minutes with 14 men. However the extra man advantage was of no avail to Ballinlough as two points from Ennis and Forde pushed Moynalvey’s advantage to 13 points. Ballinlough converted two frees in the final three minutes of normal time, with Moynalvey’s Anthony Forde sending over the final score of the game in injury time, leaving Moynalvey comfortable 12 point winners on a 3-12 to 0-9 score line.
