Three goals from Stephanie Thompson secured Moynalvey's first win in their Intermediate Championship campaign on Tuesday evening July 16th in Dunboyne.

Full Time: Dunboyne 2-9 Moynalvey 4-4
Half Time : Dunboyne 1-5 Moynalvey 0-2

Last years Junior champions were slow to start the game as they only managed to secure 2 points in the first half. Dunboyne really asked questions of Moynalvey ...as they scored 1-5 making it very hard for the visitors as they trailed by 6 points at the break.

A more confident Moynalvey team lined out in the second half as their goalie Stephanie Thompson moved to a new position of full forward. Within the opening seconds of the second half Thompson hit the back of the net to bring Moynalvey back into the game. Hard work in the defence by Taylor and Katie Little motivated the Moynalvey forwards to move forward. Points from Tara Smith and Louise Donoghue added to the score board before Stephanie Thompson beat the goalie for the second time of the night.

Dunboyne reacted to this comeback as they began to work together to score 4 points. Additional goals from Moynalveys Kate Lawless and Stephanie Thompson gave Moynalvey a 4 point advantage but Dunboyne worked hard to hit the back of the Moynalvey net leaving a one point advantage for Moynalvey in the last two minutes. Dunboyne had one last attack in the dying seconds to secure the game and they threatened for goal but the ball was clear by Taylor Little to ensure victory for Moynalvey.

Best for Moynalvey was Rachel Lawless, Stephanie Thompson and Taylor Little. Moynalvey now await Ratoath in the next round of the Intermediate Championship.
