Playing with a stiff breeze Dave McLoughlin opened the scoring with a fine point. Sean Duggan, Darragh Walsh and Hughie O’Sullivan had an intricate interweaving passing movement which yielded an excellent goal. This attacking play was matched by stern defence including an outstanding catch by Robert Lawless in the 19th minute. Shortly afterwards Brian Harnan zig zagged from midfield to unleash a left footed goal in off the crossbar.

Half time: Moynalvey 4-6 to Gaeil Colmcille 0-2.

The second half was a different story with Gaeil Colmcille in the ascendancy aided by the introduction of the excellent Ciaran Reilly. Eoin Mitchell was tit for tat against number 14 whereas Michael Burke defended brilliantly including one goal line save. David Schilder was busy saving one penalty and making two point blank saves. Nonetheless Kells reduced the margin to three points with some excellent play. Moynalvey had to rely on Colm O’Connor linking well for Brian Harnan to score a rasping goal.
