Moynalvey ended three years of heartbreak at Under 14 level by finally capturing the Division 4 league title. In a very sporting game played in mid June 2006, Moynalvey reversed an earlier group stage defeat by Syddan to capture the title. Points from Cillian O’Sullivan, Padraic Harnan, Tony Forde and Anthony Forde along with a goal from O’Sullivan gave Moynalvey a half time lead of 1 – 7 to 0 – 1. Syddan started the second half strongly but found it very hard to break down the Moynalvey rearguard that was magnificent to a man. Moynalvey’s midfield pairing of William Harnan and Darren Brennan were starting to take control of this area and with the forwards continuing where they left off in the first half adding a further 1 – 4, Moynalvey cruised to victory. The trophy was presented to Moynalvey captain Tiernan Mahady.
