Moynalvey McCormack 2Moynalvey GFC are proud to have McCormack Farms come on board as their new Main Sponsor.

We are proud to have local company McCormack Farms, one of the biggest supplier of herbs & baby leaf to some of Ireland’s biggest Super Market chains as our Main Sponsor.

McCormack Farms owned by Eddie McCormack and run by son & Managing Director Stephen have signed up to be Moynalvey GFC’s Main Sponsor for the next three years.

We are very grateful to Stephen & Catriona and their family Charlie, Jake and Abbie for their support and look forward to working with them in the future. Stephen’s children Charlie, Jake & Abbi all line out at various underage levels in the maroon & white of Moynalvey GFC.

Moynalvey GFC express our gratitude to Mitchell Macadam for their sponsorship over the last three years!

A brief history of the McCormack Farms family run business is outlined below.

In 1966 Edward McCormack began work at Warrenstown Horticultural College, Drumree, County Meath. It is here that his love of the land took seed and began to grow. He worked in growing, the nursery and growing in glasshouses.

Edward then stayed on at Warrenstown throughout the 1970s, working mostly as a salesman for the college. In 1984 he finally decided to strike out and begin his own farming business, growing various vegetables including; broccoli and lettuce and selling them directly to the Smithfield Market in Dublin. During this time, Edward’s young son Stephen also started helping his father on the farm.

Stephen later followed in his father’s footsteps graduating from Warrenstown Horticultural College and began working full time on the farm.
In 1998 Edward and Stephen decided to start growing herbs alongside their vegetables and this move proved to be most encouraging for the duo.

In 2000 they decided to drop vegetable growing altogether and focus their efforts on herbs and baby leaf production. Their decision came from the fact that these products were being imported from the continent and they felt an Irish company could produce them just as well!

In 2007, having spent the best part of 20 years selling directly to business, the company earned its first retail account by selling its herbs and baby leaf to Superquinn. Since then McCormack’s has gone from strength to strength and today is a supplier to all of the top retailers in Ireland including; Lidl, Tesco and Dunnes Stores. They supply all fresh cut and potted herbs for the SuperValu
private label.

Today Stephen runs the family business with the support of his wife Catriona and their three children, Charlie, Jake and Abbi.
