As the parish received good news last week of the appointment a new CC to the parish of Moynalvey, it is regret we bring you the sad news of the passing of our PP Father Peter Mulvany.

Born in Wilkinstown, Father Peter Mulvany was educated at the local National School, St Finian's College and St Columban'sDalgan Park ,. He was ordained on 22 December 1969 and served on the Korean mission until 1983. Father Mulvany was involved in mission education in Ireland until 1985 and parish work in Ballymun, Dublin until 1990. Following his appointment as curate in Navan in 1990, he was incardinated into the Diocese of Meath in February 1992 and became Administrator of St. Mary's, Navan in 1993. He was appointed Parish Priest of Moynalvey in August 2001.

Fr. Peter passed away after a brave battle against illness on Friday, October 2nd.

The funeral Mass took place in Moynalvey at 12 noon on Monday with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetry. The funeral Mass was celebrated by Bishop Michael Smith and the homily was preached by Father Seamus Mulvany, parish priest of Glasson, Co Westmeath, brother of the deceased.

May he rest in peace.
