Active First Responders Group are delighted to announce that on Thursday, 14th December at 8pm in Kiltale National School - ACTIVE First Responders will be will launch the Community First Responder service for the areas of Moynalvey & Kiltale Co. Meath.

A Community First Responder is a person, who attends a life-threatening emergency in their local community at the request of the National Ambulance Service, while awaiting on the arrival of an emergency ambulance. All responders are fully trained and Garda vetted.

We are very excited to be able to launch this service to the local Moynalvey and Kiltale community. Moynalvey and Kiltale responders have been well trained over the last 6 months and are fully prepared to assist their local community when called upon by the National Ambulance Service.

Come along on the night to support this vital service to the local community..!

WANT TO BECOME A COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDER**

We will also be recruiting new members this evening also. Don't worry - we will train you in full to be a first responder.

Community First Responders are required by the HSE to be over 18 years of age.

There is no upper age limit but since CPR is a very physically demanding task, volunteer responders must be physically fit. Responders must be inside the catchment area ( Kiltale / Moynalvey) while on call, e.g. at home or their place of work. They must also have access to a car.

In terms of time commitment:
Volunteers will have to undergo initial training including CFR training and Group Policy training.
If you are already qualified as a medical responder or practitioner you will only need to undergo the Group Policy training.Ongoing time commitment, there will be monthly 2hr training sessions which volunteers will be expected to attend, and it would be expected that volunteers would be available to be ‘on call’ once or twice per month.

Overall commitment is actually minimal, as while your "On Call" you go about your daily business.
