Moynalvey and Nobber took a point apiece from this Division 2 B League encounter played in Nobber on Sunday evening July 15th as the sides finished all square after 60 odd minutes.

Nobber 2-9 Moynalvey 2-9

Despite dominating possession for most of the game, especially in the opening period, Moynalvey found themselves three points behind at the interval. Moynalvey were first to register on the score board in the 4th minute when a Ciaran Collins effort at goal was well saved and the ball rebounded back to James Weldon who clipped over for the games opening score. The home side opened their account in the 11th minute and five minutes later took the lead with a converted free. Despite dominating play, numerous spurned chances meant Moynalvey had to wait 20 minutes for their second score when Ciaran Ennis fired over in the 24th minute leaving a point between the sides, 0-3 to 0-2. In the remaining six minutes the home side posted two more scores leaving them 0-5 to 0-2 to the good at the break.

Having realised they should have been out of sight after the first half, Moynalvey opened the second in determined fashion taking the lead within two minutes of the restart. A Ciaran Ennis effort after 30 seconds was quickly followed by a Robbie Quinlan goal and a minute later Alan Donnelly split the posts leaving the visiting side two points ahead, 1-4 to 0-5. In the 36th minute the sides were level for the second time in the game after two Nobber points. A trio of Moynalvey points from Donal Smith, Ciaran Ennis and Brian Conneely saw the goal separate the sides after 44 minutes. Nobber pointed on the three quarter mark before regaining the lead when scoring their first goal in the 46th minute, leaving the score reading 1-8 to 1-7. A brace of points from Ennis left the sides’ level 1-9 each with 8 minutes remaining. Moynalvey’s full forward Ciaran Collins looked to have grabbed the definitive score in the 54th minute when he grabbed the visiting sides’ second goal with a superb finish from an acute angle. However sixty seconds later Nobber broke forward to grab a second goal of their own leaving the sides level for the fifth and final time. The sides proved insperable at the final whistle as neither side could muster the decisive score in the remaining five minutes, leaving the final score reading 2-9 apiece.

Best for Moynalvey were Luke Duffy, Paul Conneely and Ciaran Ennis.
