Moynalvey and Carnaross served up a thrilling Junior ‘D’ Championship game in Martry on Friday evening July 13th. Moynalvey had to overcome a very tough challenge from the unbeaten Carnaross which wasn’t made any easier by an incorrect half time score line of 0-7 to 0-5 (should have been level at 0-6 each).

Moynalvey 0-11 Carnaross 0-10

However this was probably the motivation Moynalvey needed and with some outstanding team performances including a crucial save by veteran Brendan Melia on the 40th minute they found themselves a point in front with seven minutes to go. The play flowed from one end to the other over the remaining minutes until Carnaross levelled two minutes into injury time. However the knockout punch was delivered when a Cathal Sheridan free came back of the post and was fisted over the bar by PJ Walsh deep into injury time.

The Moynalvey Team that lined out included many who had rolled back the years and made it an impossible task to single out anyone as this was a complete team performance
