Nobber Junior C team emulated their Intermediate teams recent qualification to their championship final by beating Moynalvey in a tense and exciting semi-final played in Bohermeen.

Nobber 1-10 Moynalvey 1-7

Nobber's wing forward Brian Kelly was one of the star men on show. He constantly punished Moynalvey's defence by converting long range frees. He opened his account in the 2nd minute when corner forward Fiachra Mc Entee was fouled. Moynalvey's Ciaran Ennis responded with a pointed free on 6 minutes. Within minutes an excellent through ball from Cathal Sheridan set up Ennis who coolly slotted the ball to the back of the net.

That goal sparked a positive response from the Nobber side. Points from Kelly (2) and Robbie Lambe brought Nobber level. Then came the vital score from Nobber, wing back Paul Meade skipped past two heavy tackles to fire a pin point pass to Nobber full forward Thomas Mc Cormack who sidestepped Moynalvey goalkeeper Brian O Reilly and hammered the ball to the top corner of the net. Kelly and Moynalvey corner forward PJ Walsh exchanged points before the half time whistle blew as Nobber led by 1-5 to 1-2.

Within minutes of the second half Kelly rounded his marker and found himself one on one with the Moynalvey keeper, only to see his effort smack the side netting. Points from Ennis and Paul Corcoran pulled Moynalvey back to within a point. The introduction of Michael O'Halloran to the Nobber helped steady the Nobber defence. Kelly and McEntee again responded to edge Nobber three points ahead. Moynalvey fought back again, Ennis (3) pulling them back to level pegging with nine minutes remaining. But Nobber seemed to find that extra gear, 3 fine points from Kelly gave Nobber the much deserved lead going in to the final minutes. Moynalvey's had two players straight red carded at the end of the game.

In a great team performance, Brian Kelly, Paul Meade, John Mc Cormack and Benny Owens stood out for Nobber while Ciaran Ennis put in a fine performance for Moynalvey.
