St. Peters Dunboyne 0-11

Turning a two point half time deficit into a two point full time win, Moynalvey picked up a much needed second win of the B league.

The visitors started off brighter with three points scored after eleven minutes, before Moynalvey eventually opened their account in the 17th minute with a Ciaran Harnan point. Two Dunboyne points either side of a Paul Conneely point were followed by a Conor Shirren point to round off the first half scoring, leaving it 0-5 to 0-3 to Dunboyne at half time.

Two Dunboyne points either side of a point for Moynalvey's James O'Neill left it 0-7 to 0-4 six minutes into the second half. Then came Moynalvey's purple patch where they scored 2-3 without reply, with the visitor’s next score not coming until the 57th minute.

Firstly Mark O'Sullivan finished calmly to the Dunboyne net and sixty seconds later the same player split the uprights from range. Then came Moynalvey's second goal on the three quarter hour mark, a Darragh Brannigan shot at goal making its way to the net off a Dunboyne defender. Further points from James O'Neill and Mark O'Sullivan left it 2-7 to 0-8 after 53 minutes.

A late Dunboyne rally yielded three points to leave the full time score read 2-7 to 0-11.

In a fine all round team performance led by a superb showing from David Donoghue who was ably assisted in defence by Conor Egan, Anthony Brien and Johnny Carey, with the midfield of Paul Conneely and Conor Shirren chipping in with a couple of vital scores and Mark O’Sullivan leading the line up front with Eoghan Murphy turning in a fine second half with some big tackles, Moynalvey were well worth the two point win.
