Moynalvey went down to a far superior Dunboyne outfit in round one of the Seamus Connolly Junior ‘B’ football championship played at Dunshaughlin on Thursday night April 11^th.

Footballing numbers are at an obvious high at the home of last year’s Senior and Junior A champions. With their fourth team yet to play, Dunboyne had thirty plus togged out for this game, double the amount of Moynalvey’s second string.

It didn’t take Dunboyne long to register the first score, as in the first minute a point attempt dropped in short to deceive Moynalvey ‘keeper Conor Egan and land in the net.

A James O’Neill free and a Darragh Branigan point either side of a Ronan Duggan point for Dunboyne left it 1-1 to 0-2 on the quarter hour mark.

Three unanswered Dunboyne points extended their advantage, before a brace of James O’Neill points for Moynalvey left it 1-5 to 0-4.

A point from Dunboyne full forward Keith Doyle was followed by an Adam Rooney goal for Moynalvey, narrowing the deficit to two points 1-6 to 1-4 with twenty six minutes played.

Before the half time whistle Dunboyne added 1-3 without reply to hold a commanding eight point 2-9 to 1-4 lead despite the first half being evenly enough contested.

But the second half saw Dunboyne blow Moynalvey away, outscoring them 3-7 to 0-3 and but for some wasteful shooting their winning margin may have been greater.
