Moynalvey suffered a narrow one point Division 3 B league defeat to St Marys on a wet and windy evening in Donore on Tuesday evening, May 27th.

St Marys 1 - 8 Moynalvey 1 - 7

St Marys played with the wind in the first half and despite Moynalvey getting an early goal from Ger McHale and points from Martin Ryan and Stephen White, St Marys rallied to lead by 0 - 7 to 1 - 2 at the interval.

Moynalvey conceded an early goal and point at the start of the second half and this left them with a mountain to climb, trailing 1 - 8 to 1 - 2 with 20 minutes remaining. However, the visitors dominated possession for the remainder of the game and points from Ciaran Ennis (2 frees), Feidhlim Cunningham, Brian Conneely and Donal Smith closed the gap to the minimum. An equaliser could not be found as the Moynalvey forwards struggled to cope with the wet ball and the hosts held on for the victory under their state of the art new floodlights which were turned on for the first time last night.

Best for Moynalvey were Zane Donoghue and Brendan Dixon who both had excellent games.
