Moynalvey reeled off their second big win in succession in the Div. 3 B League when easily accounting for Dunderry on a 1-20 to 0-5 score line at Moynalvey on Monday evening May 9th.

Moynalvey 1-20 Dunderry 0-5

Having clocked up a big score in their opening round win against St. Michaels last Thursday, Moynalvey continued where they left off with another big win in their second game, this time accounting for Dunderry.

From the start it was home side Moynalvey who were in complete control of this game, opening up a 1-5 lead before the visitors would score in the 13thminute. Dominic O’Brien opened the scoring in the 4th minute, which was quickly followed by the game’s only goal when Conor Shirren broke a high ball in around the goal mouth down to himself to rifle home from close range.
Further points from Sean Duggan (2), Shirren and Ciaran Ennis gave Moynalvey their early eight point lead.

Moynalvey added 0-5 to their tally, with points from Duggan (2), James O’Neill (2) and John Donoghue prior to Dunderry’s second point of the game in the 24thminute, making it 1-10 t0 0-2. Sean Duggan could do little wrong in front of the posts in the opening half, sending over his 5th point in the 25th minute, leaving Moynalvey twelve points clear of their opponents at the break on a 1-11 to 0-2 score line.

Dunderry hit the first point of the second period 30 seconds after the restart, before the on fire top scorer Sean Duggan added his sixth point in the 2nd minute, just before his departure through substitution. A brace of Ciaran Ennis frees, along with points from substitutes James Weldon & Stephen Cummins and a converted free from Shaun Deering following Ennis’ departure, left Moynalvey 1-17 to 0-3 to the good after 47 minutes of play.

Good interlink play between Conor Shirren & Shaun Deering saw the latter point in the 50th minute, which was sandwiched between two Dunderry points, both from placed balls, the second a ’45 with the ‘assist’ coming from Moynalvey ‘Keeper Giles Drum after a handling error. Substitutes James Weldon & Daniel Treacy rounded off the scoring in the 55th minute, leaving the final score 1-20 to 0-5.

With 1-17 from open play, ten different scorers off the mark and limiting their opponents to just 0-1 from play in this encounter, Moynalvey will be happy with their opening two B League games, having scored an aggregate 2-44 and conceding just 1-11 in two outings prior to their trip to Castletown next Monday evening.

Best for Moynalvey in this encounter were Shane Browne, Darragh Branigan, James O’Neill and the full forward line of Sean Duggan, Shaun Deering & Conor Shirren.
