Moynalvey 0-9 Summerhill 3-19

Right from the off Summerhill were in control as they led 0-2 to 0-00 after two minutes with points from Gary McDonnell and Ross Tallon. Moynalvey’s first point of the evening arrived from the boot of full forward Ken Hyland in the 3rd minute. Summerhill rattled off seven points without reply between the 4th and 17th minutes handing them a commanding eight point advantage on a 0-9 to 0-1 score line. Hyland sent over his second point of the game in the 22nd minute before the first of the ‘Hill’s three goals arrived in the 26th minute courtesy of midfielder Justin Ennis. The first half scoring was rounded off with two Moynalvey points from Hyland and PJ Walsh, leaving the half time score line reading 1-9 to 0-4 in favour of the visitors.

Despite scoring the first point of the second half this was as near as the home side got to their neighbours. Summerhill scored at their ease in the second period and had a further 1-4 added to their tally before substitute Shaun Deering sent over Moynalvey’s sixth point in the 44th minute. The ‘Hill added a further 1-6 to their total before the full time whistle, with the goal coming from a Stephen McDonnell converted penalty kick. Moynalvey added a further 0-3 before full time, with points from Robert Quinlan and Hyland (2), leaving the side who were plying their trade in Div. 1 of the B league last year 19 point winners over a Moynalvey side who plyed their trade in Div. 3 last year.
