Moynalvey’s second string suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of St. Colmcilles on Tuesday evening June 4th at Curraha in the third round of the Junior ‘B’ Championship.

St. Colmcilles 3-14 Moynalvey 1-9

The first quarter of this contest was a keenly fought affair with St. Colmcilles just shading matters leading 0-6 to 0-3 after 14 minutes of play, with Moynalvey’s points coming from David Durkan, Cathal McCabe and Ciaran Collins. The second quarter was dominated by the East Meath men who fired over four more points before the half time whistle, with Brian Byrne registering a fourth point of the evening for Moynalvey, leaving the half time score line reading 0-10 to 0-4 in favour of the Cilles.

The game was essentially over as a contest as early as the 42nd minute as a St. Colmcilles purple patch of scoring 3-4 without reply left Moynalvey 19 points adrift of their opponents. A combination of St. Colmcilles easing off the gas and a mini Moynalvey revival saw a purple patch for Moynalvey also, hitting 1-5 without reply in the remaining 18 minutes.
