Moynalvey made the long journey to Meath Hill a profitable one when collecting another 2 points in Div. 3 of the A League with a 10 point victory over the North Meath outfit on a score line of 3-9 to 1-5.

Meath Hill 1-5 Moynalvey 3-9

The host side started the stronger of the two, racing into a three point lead after seven minutes. A smart piece of opportunism from David Donoghue saw him pull on a loose ball to register Moynalvey’s opening score of the evening in the 9th minute. Four minutes later Moynalvey took the lead, when Stephen Donoghue found the back of the Meath Hill net to raise the first green flag of the evening. The visitors held their opponents scoreless for the remainder of the half, and tagged on a further 0-4 before the break, courtesy of Willie Byrne (0-2), Ken Hyland, and a super effort from Ray Ryan. Despite kicking numerous wides during the opening period, Moynalvey left the field at the interval with a 1-5 to 0-3 lead.

Moynalvey furthered their advantage three minutes into the second period when Stephen Donoghue split the posts, before two minutes later Meath Hill reduced the deficit to 0-3 when finding the back of the net themselves. The home side cut the margin to 0-2, before Moynalvey raised their second green flag of the evening when substitute William Harnan finished to the back of the net. With the goal having restored the five point half time advantage, Moynalvey finished the stronger of the two sides, registering a further 1-3 over the remaining 11 minutes, in comparison to a solitary point from the home team. Despite some wayward finishing, Moynalvey will be happy to come away with a comfortable win, having seen nine different players hit the target over the 60 minutes. Best for the winners were William Mahady, Dan Treacy, Stephen Donoghue, James Weldon and Willie Byrne.
