Gaeil Colmcille picked up their 6th win of the A League when overcoming Moynalvey in Round 9 at Grangegodden on Sunday morning May 19th.

Gaeil Colmcille 4-13
Moynalvey 2-8

Three days on from their Feis Cup win over O'Mahonys on Thursday, Gaeil Colmcille once again racked up the exact scoring total in this game, 4-13.

Five minutes before half time set the home side on the road to victory, as two goals within those five minutes extended their half time advantage to nine points.

The game's top scorer Brian Hanlon had three points to his credit by the time visitors Moynalvey opened their account in the 15th minute with a David McLoughlin free.

Another Hanlon free and a Seamus Mattimoe point either side of a McLouhlin point left the Kells men ahead 0-5 to 0-2 after 21 minutes.

The next two scores raised green flags, one for each side, firstly Hanlon palmed to the net, then Moynalvey's first goal came two minutes later from the penalty spot with David McLoughlin firing past Justin Carry-Lynch. Soon after Mark O'Sullivan pointed to leave it 1-6 to 1-3.

Then came that five minute spell before half time where Moynalvey conceded two goals.
Oisin Reilly had the simple task of finishing close range to the Moynalvey net and then Moynalvey lost Conor Harnan to a black card when taking down a Kells attacker through on goal. Hanlon converting the resulting penalty to leave Moynalvey nine points adrift of Gaeil Colmcille at half time, 3-6 to 1-3.

The loss of Conor Harnan resulted in a half time restructure, with Harnan's replacement Conor Egan going in goal and goal keeper Ray Ryan switching out field to corner forward.

Two minutes after the restart Hanlon converted another free for the Kells men with Moynalvey replying with a David McLoughlin free. Hanlon converted another free and wing back Conal Courtney added another to leave it 3-9 to 1-4 nine minutes into the second half.

Darragh Branigan pointed for Moynalvey, but it was that man Hanlon again with 1-1 within ninety seconds to extend Gaeil Colmcille's advantage to fourteen, 4-10 to 1-5.

Moynalvey points from Fearghal McCabe and an O'Sullivan free along with the game's third penalty converted by McLoughlin, with a Seanie Curran point sandwiched in between for the home side left it 4-11 to 2-7 after 55 minutes.

Another point from the game's top marksman Hanlon followed by an Oisin Reilly point, with David McLoughlin tagging on a late free for the visitors left the full time score 4-13 to 2-8.
