An under strength Moynalvey lost out heavily to Navan O'Mahonys in Round 2 of the A League at Brews Hill on Friday Night 1st February.

Navan O'Mahonys 2-14
Moynalvey 0-4

Travelling to Paddy O'Brien Park with a skeleton squad was never going to be easy. Minus as many as fifteen players including ten of last year's SFC teams, for various reasons such as injuries, county football & hurling commitments, travelling and a stag left Moynalvey severely under strength.

As a result two seventeen year olds Adam Rooney and Ciaran Harnan made their debuts with their first ever taste of adult football. A third seventeen year old Eoghan Murphy joined the action at half time, replacing the injured Scott Tuite.

From the throw in it was the home side who dominated proceedings. Corner forward Oisin O'Brien opened the scoring within sixty seconds, which was quickly followed by a David Bray point.

A further seven points without reply, Ruairi O'Coileain (3), David Bray (2), Shane Gillespie and Cathal Smyth gave the town side a nine point to no score lead.

Regular goal keeper Ray Ryan, lining out at corner forward eventually opened Moynalvey's account in the 27th minute, leaving the half time score board reading 0-9 to 0-1.

Two minutes after the restart Padraic Harnan scored his side's second point. O'Mahonys replied with 2-2 between the 4th and 8th minutes of the half to finish the game off.

Kevin Reilly’s charges scoring eased off in the final quarter and two late Moynalvey points left the final score read 2-14 to 0-4.
