Moynalvey and Dunshaughlin both remain in relegation trouble following this draw between the sides in Round 10 of the Div. 1 A League played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Saturday evening July 15th.

Moynalvey 2-8 Dunshaughlin 1-11

Following this round of back league games the draw didn’t help either team as they both remain in relegation trouble heading into the last round of games, with several permutations still to decide who will be in the automatic relegation positions and the playoff position.

It was the home side who started brightly racking up an early three point lead with points from David McLoughlin (2) and Shane Lenehan. The visitors’ first score was an Eoin Hagarty goal in the 11th minute. Moynalvey regained the lead with a McLoughlin free before two Cian Gallogly points put the Black & Amber side in front for the first time. Gallogly’s brace was followed by another brace, this time two Eoin Hagarty frees to leave it 1-4 to 0-4 after 22 minutes.

A ten minute delay then followed as a serious shoulder injury saw Dunshaughin corner forward Cian Gallogly stretchered from the field and later transferred to hospital by ambulance.

Upon the restart Moynalvey scored their first goal, with a Darren Brennan shot saved and deflected to the net via Padraic Harnan’s hand to draw the sides’ level 1-4 apiece. Dunshaughlin added two more points before the referee’s half time whistle to leave it 1-6 to 1-4 at the break.

Dunshaughlin extended their advantage to three within sixty seconds of the restart with a Niall Murphy point, but Moynalvey were unlucky not to draw level again as a superb run from midfield by Padraic Harnan saw him set up fellow county player Cillian O’Sullivan for a snap shot at goal only to see his effort rebound off the upright. A Dunshaughlin point was countered by a Padraic Harnan free, before points from Mark Devanney & Niall Murphy extended Dunshaughlin’s lead to four, 1-9 to 1-5.

A Darren Brennan goal in the 48th minute reduced the deficit to the minimum, but a Tadhg O Dushlaine point for the visitors left two between the sides with 10 minutes remaining. Two McLoughlin points, the first from a free and the second from play levelled the sides for a fourth time, 2-7 to 1-10.

A third McLoughlin point in a row in the 59th minute looked to have snatched victory for Moynalvey only for Dunshaughlin’s top scorer Eoin Hagarty to prove to be the hero pointing from the side line in injury time to leave the full time score line reading 2-8 to 1-11.
