Easy Feis Cup win for Summerhill

Moynalvey went down to neighbours Summerhill on a 4-11 to 1-7 score line in this Feis Cup Round 2/Quarter Final played in Summerhilll on Sunday morning February 12th.

Summerhill 4-11 Moynalvey 1-7

A superior strength Summerhill outfit ran out easy winners over their neighbours Moynalvey in this game played in difficult windy & bitter cold conditions at Summerhill on Sunday morning. Summerhill’s ability to score goals proved to be the difference as the 13 point margin between the sides suggests, with the home side raising four green flags during the hour.

Six points separated the sides at the interval, with four of the game’s five goals coming in the opening half, three for Summerhill and one for Moynalvey, leaving the half time score board reading 3-4 to 1-4. Moynalvey’s first half scores came from James O’Neill (2 frees), Conor Shirren & Stephen Donoghue, while the goal was finished by Shane Lenehan following a well worked move just before half time.

The second half saw the home side build on their lead to run out easy 13 point winners, which was made all the more easier following Moynalvey’s concession of a sloppy goal and the reduction to 14 men when Stephen Donoghue saw the line after receiving a second yellow card. Moynalvey’s three second half points came from John Donoghue, James Weldon & Darren Brennan.

Next up for Moynalvey is Wolfe Tones in the opening round of the Div. 1 A League on Sunday morning.
