Moynalvey remain on two points in the Division 2 A League Table after round four with their third A League defeat coming at the hands of Drumbaragh last Friday night March 27th.

Drumbaragh 1-13 Moynalvey 0-13 Seven days on from losing out to Na Fianna by a point the result was the same and only a kick of the ball separated the sides, this Moynalvey lost out to Drumbaragh by a goal. Drumbaragh originally had home advantage for this round four A league fixture, however at their request the game was moved forward and played under lights at Dunganny.

It was the Intermediate side that raced into a 1-4 to 0-00 lead after only nine minutes, with the only goal of the game arriving in the 2nd minute of the game. Moynalvey trailed their opponents by eight points after 23 minutes of play on a 1-7 to 0-2 score line, with the Moynalvey points coming from Shane Lenehan and James Weldon. At the break six points separated the sides, 1-8 to 0-5 with Moynalvey’s remaining three points of the opening period coming from James Weldon (2) and David McLoughlin.

Ten minutes into the second half a point separated the sides as Moynalvey scored the opening five points of the second period, four from David McLoughlin, three of which were frees and the fifth from Darren Brennan following a fine save from Drumbaragh ‘keeper. The sides were level for the first time in the 48th minute following a converted free for last year’s Division 3 winners Drumbaragh and a brace of Moynalvey points from Lenehan & Weldon, leaving the score 1-9 to 0-12. However it was Drumbaragh who finished the stronger as indiscipline cost Moynalvey with the dismissal of John Donoghue and goalkeeper Ray Ryan receiving a black card. Drumbaragh’s numerical advantage saw them outscore Moynalvey four points to one in the remaining 12 minutes with Moynalvey’s point coming from the boot of James Weldon, meaning the game’s only goal separated the sides at the final whistle, 1-13 to 0-13.

Moynalvey: R. Ryan, D. Brennan (0-1), C. McCabe, S. Browne, D. Donoghue, D. Treacy (0-1), D. Branigan, E. Walsh, J. Donoghue, J. Weldon (0-4), J. O’Neill, A. Brien, S. Lenehan (0-2), W. Harnan, D. McLoughlin (0-5).
Subs: S. Donoghue for Browne, C. Egan for Ryan (Black Card), S. Duggan for O’Neill, J. Reilly for Harnan.
