Moynalvey 1-8 Nobber 0-17

Intermediate side Nobber deservedly claimed the two points on offer in round three of the A League played at Kilmore Park on Sunday afternoon. The visitors held a 0-5 to 0-00 advantage after 12 minutes of play and extended that advantage to eight points at the interval, with Moynalvey registering a scant two points in the opening thirty minutes. Indiscipline cost Moynalvey in the opening period as the majority of Nobber scores came through placed balls from Brian Farrell and Jamie Owens. Three Jamie Owens points and two from Brian Farrell in the opening 12 minutes had Nobber five points to the good, before Moynalvey registered their opening score in the 14th minute courtesy of a Davis McLoughlin converted free. Four more unanswered Nobber points extended the North Meath men’s advantage to eight points on a 0-9 to 0-1 score line after 22 minutes of play. David McLoughlin pointed his and the home side’s second point in the 26th minute from a free, with Nobber’s centre half forward Brian Farrell rounding off the first half scoring in the 29th minute leaving the half time score line reading 0-10 to 0-2 to Dudley Farrell’s men.

The visitors further extended their advantage to eleven points with three points in the opening four minutes of the second period. The introduction of Mark O’Sullivan had an immediate impact on the game with Moynalvey scoring 1-4 following his introduction as a substitute. Between the 35th and 52nd minute the home side outscored their opponents 1-4 to 0-1. O’Sullivan sent over two points, the 1st a free and the 2nd from play, John Donoghue split the uprights, before O’Sullivan was hauled down when advancing through on goal and David McLoughlin coolly slotted away the resulting penalty and O’Sullivan pointed another free leaving the score reading 0-14 to 1-6. In the remaining eight minutes three points from Nobber were countered by Moynalvey’s O’Sullivan and Stephen Donoghue, resulting in Nobber deservedly claiming the two points on offer at the final whistle.
