Moynalvey lose out to Nobber in A League

Moynalvey were well beaten by Nobber in this A league Division 2 game played under lights in Nobber on Wednesday, March 19th.

Nobber 1-13 Moynalvey 1-7

Despite Moynalvey taking an early 2 point lead through well worked scores from play by midfielder David Reilly and Mark O'Sullivan, Nobber proceeded to dominate the remainder of the half with some fine team play leading to 7 points being scored in contrast to one Fearghal McCabe point from play for the visitors. This left the half time score at 0-7 to 0-3 in Nobber's favour.

Daniel Treacy, not long back from a spell in Australia, came on for Moynalvey at half time and scored a fine point in the opening minute of the second half. A Barry O'Keeffe fisted point in response to 2 Nobber scores left the scoreboard reading 0-9 to 0-5 in the hosts favour with 20 minutes remaining. Nobber then made a push for victory and dominated the next 10 minutes scoring 4 further points to lead by 8 heading into the final 10 minutes. Moynalvey eventually came to life at this stage and a 30 yard rasper off the bottom side of the crossbar into the net from Stephen Donoghue gave the visitors hope. This was followed by a long range point from O'Sullivan and suddenly the gap was down to 4 with 6 minutes still remaining. Moynalvey were dominating posession at this stage but kicked 4 wides in 3 minutes from scoreable positions. They were made to pay for this when Nobber broke forward and scored a decisive goal to a secure the victory. James Kelly pointed a late free for Moynalvey but it was Nobber who emerged with the well deserved 2 points.

This was Moynalvey's first league defeat of the year and they now move on to their next A league game V Kilmainham this coming Saturday.
