Moynalvey gained their fourth win of the 2013 Division 2 A League campaign moving them joint top of the table, temporarily at least following a 2-13 to 1-6 win over Kilmainham at Kilmainham on Saturday evening June 8th.

Moynalvey 2-13 Kilmainham 1-6

Despite only three points being between the sides at half time the game should really have been put to bed early on as numerous goal chances and wayward shooting from Moynalvey in the opening period left the home side still in the game at half time. Moynalvey opened the scoring with a brace of points from Cathal McCabe and James Weldon in the 4th and 5th minutes, before the home side opened their account in the 7th minute courtesy of Shane Butler. A minute later William Harnan laid a pass on for James Weldon who fired home to the back of the Kilmainham net raising the first green flag of the game giving Moynalvey a four point lead, 1-2 to 0-1. Points from Butler and Gerard Morgan for the home side left two between the sides, before Weldon fired over his third score of the evening in the 18th minute, leaving just the goal between the sides. Points from James Kelly and William Harnan gave Moynalvey a five point advantage after 25 minutes of play. However with one of their rare attacks, Kilmainham scored a goal of their own narrowing the deficit to two points again, before Moynalvey's Cathal McCabe sent over his 2nd point of the evening in the 29th minute, leaving the half time score board reading 1-6 to 1-3 in favour of the men in maroon and white.

Inside the third quarter both sides traded 0-3 apiece, with Moynalvey's scores coming from Brian Conneely, David Donoghue and James Weldon, while Kilminaham's scores came from Fergal Black, Mark Newman and Gerard Morgan, leaving the three points between the sides, 1-9 to 1-6,  midway through the second half. The final quarter proved fruitless for the home side as they were to trouble the score board no more, while Moynalvey added a further 1-4 to their tally, leaving them 10 point winners on a 2-13 to 1-6 score line.
